Unit 1 is designed to let you learn more about the "French world," or le monde francophone. The word francophone means "French speaking" and describes someone as a person who speaks French. Often times we think of the French language as only being in or relating to France. However, French is across several continents and can be found only 4 hours away from us in Quebec, Canada. Throughout this unit, we will be talking about where French can be heard and the general geography of le monde francophone.
